Senior Copy Writer
At JHG we service a broad range of clients that are working hard to change the world, and they are counting on us to help them. Some have exciting, breakthrough technology solutions; others are cutting edge innovators in media, entertainment, education, sports and consumer goods. Some are early stage companies; others are among the who’s who of global brands.

In order to tell our clients’ stories we are always looking for creative and strategic writers. The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of experience in writing and editing copy for an agency, publications and/or online.

We need your help to bring their business stories to life with strategic public relations and marketing communications programs. You’ll work with our clients and alongside other talented JHG professionals to understand their opportunities and challenges. In addition to our search for full-time writers, we are always accepting resumes for freelance writers in the areas of technology, sports, media and entertainment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for writing creative copy for print, interactive, video and collateral piece for internal and external clients.
  • Participate in the overall marketing strategy and concept to develop an understanding of the client’s needs/objective and to adhere to client’s style.
  • Edit to maximize appeal to defined audiences, to raise the professional level of the writing, to project a top-caliber style.
  • Maintain copy consistency, quality and efficient work flow on each project.
  • Monitor other writers by managing their work and providing input into their writing style.
  • Performs content research, which will include Internet research on assigned projects for fact checking.
  • Proofread and copy edit assigned projects including both print and interactive materials to ensure appropriate grammar, correct spelling, and proper layout.
  • Participating in internal and external meetings and reviews, preparing for client presentations, editing and proofreading.


Requirements:
  • Five years of experience writing and editing copy for an ad agency, publisher, website, broadcast outlet, magazine, newspaper, corporation, etc.
  • Well-versed in the differences between writing for interactive versus print copy.
  • Strong editorial perspective with the intellect to support your perspective.
  • Ability to convey technical concepts in simple, non-technical language.
  • Skilled in long format writing and Internet research.
  • Strong synthesis and conceptual skills.
  • Detail-oriented but able to see the big picture.
  • Level headed in what can sometimes be a fast-moving, high-stress, deadline-driven environment.
  • Experience in any or all of the following project types preferred:
    • Creative (design, print, motion media)
    • Technology (web/interactive)
    • Sports
  • Excellent written and communication skills and proficiency in the Microsoft suite of applications including, Excel, PowerPoint and Word required.
  • A professional demeanor, exceptional organizational skills, and a proactive approach are necessary.
