Account Executive
An Account Executive’s key responsibility is to develop the skills necessary to work independently on assigned accounts without the ongoing direction of an Account Manager or Director of Account Services. As such, the Account Executive will assist the Director of Account Services and the Account Manager on accounts as needed. Account Executives must maintain best practices, corporate standards, and effective processes to ensure good communication with our clients. Account Executives will also work closely with JHG’s Business Development Team to effectively transition accounts from sold to active.
Account Executives should also have a thorough understanding of the roles and responsibilities of Account Specialists and the ability to execute these responsibilities as needed.
Primary Responsibilities:
Account Service Roles
- To ensure the follow-through of all action items related to a particular project.
- Create and maintain schedules and timelines to help enforce deadlines and to ensure that all deliverables are completed on schedule.
- Lead cross-functional project teams consisting of all impacted service groups, vendors and client members. Implement proper processes and ensure that direct reports are utilizing proper process from the start of a project to completion.
- Gather and perform all requirements prior to the start of a project and communicate these details through the creation of project plans that are maintained throughout the duration of the project. Project plans include defining project scope, deliverables, timelines, and budgets.
- Ensure that the team communicates back to JHG staff (project operations, senior management, creative, development, etc.) all client related issues, concerns and needs.
- Maintain and update data within account or project management software to help facilitate company-wide communication for each account.
- Assign the appropriate project teams for each client at the inception of the account; communicate appropriate changes to the team as needed.
- Monitor and ensure overall project quality control.
- Provide direction and training to Account Specialists.
- Responsible for managing each account and each project that you are assigned and ensure that best practices are being employed for each client.
- Submit Account Activity Reports to the Director of Account Services, to relevant Senior Executives, and to clients as frequently as needed based on client terms.
- Prepare for semi-weekly project reviews with the Director of Account Services.
- Participate in monthly Account Service Team meetings to communicate best practices, templates, training, and team support.
- Ensure that in-house staff (creative, development, and copywriting) is working with the Account Services Team to deliver on time and on budget.
- To be proficient in all types of projects that JHG performs and to maintain a working knowledge of the basic capabilities of each of the JHG service offerings, including online, mobile, PR and sports marketing.
- Create budgets as needed to monitor and maintain project profitability.
Project Operations / Financials / Scope of Work
- Help to clearly define and ensure that scope of work is communicated clearly to all parties within JHG and to the client.
- Ensure that once scope of work is defined that any changes to project/assignment are quickly identified and appropriate communication is established to make certain that JHG staff is aware of change and appropriate re-pricing is delivered.
- Ensure completion and delivery of account activity reports, billing reports (retainers), change orders, and any other required communications to appropriate internal and client contacts.
- Assist project operations in pricing of all projects and oversee the profitability of each project assigned.
- Prepare for regular financial reviews with the Director of Account Services and with JHG management for each account. Larger accounts will require more frequent review while smaller accounts will entail financial analysis less frequently.
Business Development / Up selling
- Work with business development staff and senior management to effectively transition account from sold to active and to ensure that clients are maximizing the value of the products and services that we provide.
- Complete New Client Forms and Internal Project Activation Forms and to ensure activation of all projects and estimate creation.
- Work with clients to help identify any additional opportunities to expand service/product offering from JHG.
- Manage the relationship between the client, business development and JHG senior management.
- Assist with new business pitches as a member of the Account Services Team.
Requirements:
- A bachelor degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
- Five years of professional experience in project management or related field.
- Experience managing client requests and expectation
- Excellent written and communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft suite of applications including, Excel, PowerPoint and Word required
- A professional demeanor, exceptional organizational skills, and a proactive approach are necessary.
- As Account Executives guide multi-functional teams to project completion, an ability to perform critical decision-making in a timely fashion is important, as are interpersonal management skills.
- Experience in any or all of the following project types preferred:
- Creative (design, print, motion media)
- Technology (web/interactive)
- Sports
