Director, Account Services
As a Director of Account Services, responsibilities include oversight, management, and training of the JHG Account Services Team to ensure they are appropriately executing all responsibilities by providing customer services through maintaining best practices, corporate standards, and effective processes. The Director of Account Services will also work directly with the Business Development Team to effectively transition accounts from sold to active.

The Director of Account Services should have a thorough understanding of the roles and responsibilities of Account Managers, Account Executives, and Account Specialists and the ability to execute these responsibilities as needed.

Primary Responsibilities:

Account Services Team Oversight
  • Oversee Account Services Team to ensure the follow-through of all action items related to a particular project to make sure that all deliverables are completed on schedule.
  • Provide direction and training to Account Managers, Account Executives, Account Specialists and other direct reports.
  • Develop and maintain processes and guidelines for the Account Services Team that will enhance their ability to lead cross-functional project teams consisting of all impacted service groups, vendors and client members. Ensure that all members of the team are utilizing these processes from the start of a project to completion.
  • Ensure that the Account Services Team assigns the appropriate project teams for each client.
  • Oversee the Account Services Team as they gather and perform all requirements prior to the start of a project and communicate these details through the creation of project plans that are maintained throughout the duration of the project. Project plans include defining project scope, deliverables, timelines, and budgets.
  • Ensure that the Account Services Team is capable of facilitating meetings with the necessary service groups and client members. Also ensure that the team communicates back to JHG staff (project operations, senior management, creative, development, etc.) all client related issues, concerns and needs.
  • Assumes responsibility for ensuring that the Account Services Team maintains and updates data within account or project management software to help facilitate company-wide communication for each account.
  • Responsible for assigning an account services team member to each account and/or each project based on experience and domain expertise.
  • Monitor all accounts to make sure that best practices are being employed for each client.
  • Collect and monitor account activity reports of all members of the Account Services Team.
  • Conduct bi-weekly project reviews with all members of the Account Services Team.
  • Conduct monthly Account Services Team meetings to communicate best practices, templates, training, and team support.
  • Monitor and assist project operations in maintaining and updating the JHG Project Snapshot Spreadsheet.
  • Monitor and ensure overall project quality control.
  • Ensure that in-house staff (creative, development, and copywriting) is working with the Account Services Team to deliver on time and on budget.
  • Ensure that the Account Services Team is proficient in the types of projects JHG performs and that each member of the team maintains a working knowledge of the basic capabilities of each of the JHG service offerings, including online, mobile, PR and sports marketing.
  • Monitor and maintain project profitability of all projects of direct reports.
  • Monitor and maintain productivity of all direct reports through productivity and time keeping reviews.

Project Operations / Financials / Scope of Work
  • Ensure that scope of work is defined and communicated clearly to all parties within JHG and to the client.
  • Ensure that once scope of work is defined that any changes to project/assignment are quickly identified and appropriate communication is established to make certain that JHG staff is aware of change and appropriate re-pricing is delivered.
  • Ensure completion and delivery of account activity reports, billing reports (retainers), change orders, and any other required communications to appropriate internal and client contacts.
  • Assist project operations in pricing of all projects and oversee the profitability of each project within the Account Services Team.
  • Conduct regular financial reviews with the JHG Account Services Team and with JHG management for each account. Larger accounts will require more frequent review while smaller accounts will entail financial analysis less frequently.


Business Development / Up selling
  • Work with business development staff and senior management to effectively transition account from sold to active.
  • Ensure completion of New Client Forms and Internal Project Activation Forms and to ensure activation of all projects and estimate creation.
  • Work with clients to help identify any additional opportunities to expand service/product offering from JHG.
  • Manage the relationship between the client, business development and JHG senior management.
  • Assist with new business pitches as a member of the account services team.


Requirements:
  • A bachelor degree in a related field or equivalent work experience. Masters degree preferred.
  • Eight years of professional experience in account management or related field.
  • Proven leadership experience
  • Experience overseeing account management/services teams
  • Excellent written and communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft suite of applications including, Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • A professional demeanor, exceptional organizational skills, and a proactive approach are required.
  • An ability to perform critical decision-making in a timely fashion is important, as are interpersonal management skills.
  • Experience in any or all of the following project types preferred:
    • Creative (design, print, motion media)
    • Technology (web/interactive)
    • Sports
